When is the Sundance Film Festival in Boulder, and where are the venues?

The short answer

The first Boulder edition of the Sundance Film Festival runs January 21 to 31, 2027. Screenings cluster in three places: downtown around Pearl Street, the CU campus, and Chautauqua Auditorium on Baseline. Passes and ticket packages go on sale to the public October 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. Mountain time.

Sundance spent more than forty years in Park City. Now it is ours, eleven days every January, starting in 2027.

Where the screenings are

Downtown, the Boulder Theater, the Boulder High School and Casey Middle School auditoriums and Cinemark Century Boulder anchor the Pearl Street corridor. In North Boulder, the Dairy Arts Center adds the Boedecker and Gordon Gamm theaters, with eTown Hall a few blocks south. On campus, CU contributes Macky Auditorium, Muenzinger Auditorium and the Roe Green Theatre. Chautauqua Auditorium sits on its own to the west.

What it costs to attend

A Full Festival Express Pass is $7,500. The First Half Express Pass is $6,100 and the Second Half is $4,500. Ten ticket packages run from $350 for matinees to $925 for the full festival. A single film ticket is $37. Members get a presale on October 13.

What it means if you live here

For eleven days, the town will feel like a different place close to those three clusters and much the same everywhere else. Plan errands, guests and any work on your house around the last ten days of January.
